(Or Why I Still Believe They Can Be Good For Each Other If They Try Hard Enough)
This essay is dedicated to the sick and twisted relationship between Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass. It is an analysis of their dynamic, the changes in their storytelling and the clichés that describe them, as well as a study of their characters. You will also find here my view on Upper East Side and its morality. Please remember that these are all my opinions – you can interpret certain things differently and not agree with me at some points (or at all). Whether you ship Chuck and Blair or not, I do hope that you’ll either come to understand better why this couple fascinates so many people or at least why it fascinates me.
(I would like to apologize in advance for any possible mistakes in my writing – English is not my mother tongue and even though I am normally one of those grammar and punctuation Nazis, there’s only so much I can do while dealing with a foreign language.)
Unfortunately it will be impossible to put all parts in one post, I’ve simply written too much. This is why I’ve decided to post on tumblr each part separately. When I’m done, I’ll do a livejournal entry and I will link to it, so every thing’s in one place. But for now, enjoy the first part.
